Since your business was sued, you've probably been dealing with a lot of unknowns. This article is meant to give you a clear picture of how the process works from our end.
Our role
216digital handles the technical side of your accessibility compliance. We work in parallel with your legal team: we're not attorneys, and we don't manage the legal negotiation. But we give you the documentation and remediation work that supports a favorable settlement outcome.
The general flow
- Audit — We identify the accessibility issues on your site that are relevant to your case.
- Kickoff — We understand your timeline, share with you what we need to remediate, and agree on timelines.
- Remediation — Our development team fixes the issues on your site. This may happen in phases depending on the size of your site.
- Validation — We confirm the fixes are working correctly and set up a meeting to walk you through what was changed. You'll get documentation you can share with your legal team.
- Training (optional) — We walk you through your site and share web development best practices to avoid crossing accessibility thresholds in the future.
- Monitoring (optional) — If you enroll in a11y Radar, we continue watching your site after initial remediation to catch any new violations.
Timelines
How long this takes depends on your site's size, complexity, and your legal deadline. During the kickoff call we will give you a realistic timeline and keep you updated as work progresses.
Your legal team
If your attorney needs documentation from us — audit reports, remediation summaries, or a statement of work — just let us know. We provide this regularly and can usually turn it around within 2 business days.
